The sand on the beaches on Pemba Island is made of old coral that has been grinded by the sea for thousands of years. The Manta Resort is located on Penga Ya Watoro beach in the north- one of the best beaches on the island. As the coral contains microscopic wholes it never heats up as much as ordinary sand, this means that you will never burn your feet walking on our beaches. Pemba is a large island that hides away plenty of secluded beaches. A good way to find one of these hidden treasures is to rent a taxi and a guide to take you around Pemba Island. Another option is to take one of the kayaks and follow the coastline north or south from the resort and discover the lagoons and beaches from the sea.
